What A Night! The Speirs' Dinner
In April Paul and I were talking and came up with the idea of an event to raise funds for The Amy May Trust. We had the ideal venue, La Quinta in Hadleigh, just round the corner, a friend with a band, a friend who does the most incredible magic tricksand we were sure that we could get a few donations for an auction and raffle. Once we had committed ourselves to this we did have a bit of a wobble, what if we can’t get the numbers to attend, what if we can’t get donations for the auction, what if nobody bids, this could be a disaster but, we thought we have to give it a go we had all the ingredients for it to be successful so let’s do this. We did not need to have been concerned. We have been overwhelmed with the support kindness and generosity of friends, family and even people we had never met or who didn’t know Amyor her family but having heard Amy’s storywanted to get involved.
The evening started at 7pm with a welcome drink and Simono our favourite magician worked the room wowing everyone with his amazing tricks. We then sat down to a delicious 3 course meal , followed by the auction, we werefortunate to have 18 items donated all of which were amazing. It was an entertaining auction, with some people bidding against themselves all in the aid of raisinggenerous funds for Amy. The band ‘You little Thief’ then started the party and everyone took to the dance floor to work off some of their dinner. The band entertained us for about an hour playing everyone’s favourites when they had finished there were cries from Jack for ‘Just one more’ so following an encore we then had the raffle again, some fantastic prizes to be won. The evening continuedwith a DJ keeping the party going until 1 am when, we all parted ways having enjoyed a fun and successful night.
Amy and her family have been close friends for many years and it was important to us to try our best to support them and the trust. We are over whelmed and delighted to announce that the evening raised over £11,600.00 for the Amy May Trust which far exceeded our expectations. We are grateful to everyone who supported this event along the way and helped us to help Amy. From the staff at La Quinta , the guests who bought tickets, people who donated auction and raffle prizes, the winner for the auction items, the band and Simono, everyone played their part in making this a successful event and raising much needed funds for our beautiful Amy
A big heart felt thank you from The Speirs family
